What is the South Texas Chapter ACS Speaker’s Bureau?
The speaker’s bureau is a centralized source for junior faculty to advertise lectures in their areas of expertise. It is also a source for different institutions to recruit lecturers more locally for educational purposes. Participation in the speaker’s bureau is voluntary, and arrangements for scheduling and travel expenses will need to be arranged directly between the requesting institution and volunteer lecturer.
Aims of our program include:
- Provide young fellows of the South Texas Chapter the opportunity to speak in differing communities in South Texas for exposure of specialty expertise, practice presenting, and dissemination of quality surgical information.
- Allow program directors, chiefs of surgery, and meeting coordinators a centralized resource for obtaining high quality speakers for grand rounds or academic meetings local to South Texas.
- Provide exchange of information and opportunities for collaboration to the diverse regions of South Texas
